Have you ever wondered how ACROSS accomplishes our goal of Reaching Out in Service and Support (part of our organization name), stated so beautifully in Galatians 6:10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers?

A large part of how ACROSS has reached out to help others is by donating money to those Forest Service employees or family members who have experienced a tragedy of some sort or to organizations from which ACROSS members benefit. Some areas where funds have been dispersed are:

  • Donation of $100 to the family of an employee on the Sierra NF whose house burned down and another $100 to a San Bernardino NF employee whose house burned down
  • Donation of $100 to employee in the hospital receiving calls of encouragement which ran her cell phone bill up to $1,100
  • Donation of $500 (some from individually designated funds) to a Prescott NF seasonal employee to help with his mortgage during his wife’s serious illness
  • Donation of $150 each to the families of several FS firefighters who died in the line of duty in the Frog, Sierra, and Twisp Fires and to another firefighter who was burned over 60% of his body while fighting the Twisp Fire
  • Donation of $200 to widow of fallen Tahoe Fire Fighter.
  • Donation to heartlight.org, which provides the daily Scripture verse which many of our regional coordinators forward to the members on their maillists

Do you know that all of these funds come from donations to ACROSS by its members? Currently, only five or six individuals are making regular small donations and a few others make an occasional donation by check, so our funds are not where we need them to be. Your donations will enable us to continue responding to those employees in need. We are requesting that all members prayerfully consider supporting ACROSS monetarily. We do not want your tithe, which belongs to your home church. This would be a voluntary offering of any amount allowing you to be a part of supporting our Forest Service families in their time of need.

If God leads you to make contributions, please contact ACROSS President Richard Ludke. If you have questions or concerns, please contact any one of the board members or your regional coordinator.
